"WHAT THE NIGHT IS FOR" WITH GILLIAN ANDERSON FROM 7 NOV AT COMEDY

It is now confirmed that What the Night Is For by Michael Weller, will open at the Comedy Theatre on 27th Nov 02, following previews from 7 Nov 02 and booking to 23rd Feb 2003, starring TV's X-files Gillian Anderson

Roger Allam also joins the cast. His many London Theatre credits include "Privates on Parade" at the Donmar Warehouse last Christmas, which he won an Olivier Award for 'Best Actor' . His other credits include "Troilus & Cressida" in 1999, "Money" in 1999, "Summerfolk" in 1999/2000", Albert Speer" in 2000 all at the National; "The Learned Ladies" at the Barbican Pit in 1996/97; "The Importance of Being Earnest" at the Old Vic in 1995; and "Arcadia" at the Haymarket in 1994.

The play is directed by John Caird, designed by Tim Haley with lighting by Paul Pyant.

Gillian Anderson plays Melinda Metz, a married woman, who after many years, once again meets her married ex-lover. He comes to her hotel room for dinner - and one passionate night of honesty and deceit, hope and regret.

Uncompromising in its attitude towards modern marriage and infidelity, What The Night Is For directly addresses the question: Is the person you are with the right one? Or are they still out there, living another life?
