A Hundred Words for Snow to transfer to Trafalgar Studios
Tatty Hennessy's play A Hundred Words for Snow is set to return to London next year with a run at Trafalgar Studios.
The play, directed by Lucy Atkinson, Rory who is on a mission to get the ashes of her late father - an Arctic enthusiast - across to the North Pole. With the polar explorer Felicity Aston working on the project as a consultant, the play explores the planet's destruction, while also telling a heart-warming coming-of-age story, too.
A Hundred Words for Snow premiered at VAULT Festival in 2018, and will run in Trafalgar Studio 2 from 5th to 30th March, with an official opening night on 7th March.
On the announcement of the transfer, Hennessy, who is a graduate of the Royal Court and Lyric Young Writers Programmes, said: "As a female and feminist playwright, I'm excited to write a piece of serious drama focused on a teenage girl, one that takes her difficulties and desires seriously, especially at a time when the pressures and constraints on young women are so varied and complex.
"It also looks at our relationship with the planet, the delicate interconnectedness of nature and our impact on the earth, sadly all the more relevant in the wake of the UNs stark and startling Climate Change Report".
The play is performed by Gemma Barnett, whose recent credits include Cousins at Soho Theatre and Roosting at the Park Theatre. Produced by Rebecca Gwyther, the production has lighting by Lucy Adams and sound design by Mark Sutcliffe.
A Hundred Words for Snow is at Trafalgar Studio 2 from 5th to 30th March.
