"Abigail's Party" new casting for Whitehall transfer in April 03

A new cast will take over in Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party when it transfers from the New Ambassadors to the Whitehall Theate on 9 Apr 03. However Elizabeth Berrington, will remain in the show in the lead role as 'Beverly'.

The new cast will be Philip Bird (Laurence); Amelda Brown (Susan); Elizabeth Chadwick (Angela); Jake Wood (Tony).

Over twenty-five years ago Hampstead Theatre gave Mike Leigh a locked rehearsal room, five actors and six weeks to develop a play. The result? Abigail's Party.

The play was revived by the Hampstead theatre last year when it played 10 July - 28 Sep 02 & 14 Oct - 9 Nov 02. The show then transferred to the New Ambassadors Theatre on 3 Dec 02 where it will run to 5 Apr 03, before transferring to the Whitehall Theatre on 9 April 03. (Replacing Sing-A-Long-A-Abba)

It is directed by David Grindley, designed by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Jason Taylor.
