Alan Cumming confirmed to star in Bent

It is now confirmed that Alan Cumming will play 'Max' in Bent by Martin Sherman, which opens at the Trafalgar Studios One on 5 Oct 2006, following previews from 22 Sep - running to 13 Jan 2007.

The cast will also include: Richard Bremmer (Greta), Hugh Ross (Freddie), Kevin Trainor (Rudy), Benjamin Wilkin (Wolf), Ricky Champ, Charles Mayer.

Directed by Daniel Kramer, designed by Robin Don, costumes by Mark Bouman, produced by Sonia Friedman , Mark Rubinstein and Tulbart Productions.

Bent is a powerful and provocative look at the persecution of homosexuals during the Holocaust. A love story at its heart, BENT is a monument to the strength of the human spirit.

Alan Cumming's previous London stage credits include Conquest of the South Pole, La Bete, Hamlet, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, for which he won an Olivier for Comedy Performance of the Year, and Sam Mendes's Donmar Warehouse production of Cabaret, which later transferred to Broadway where he won a Tony Award for his performance. Alan Cumming has worked extensively for the Tron Theatre Company, Glasgow and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. His other Broadway credits include The Threepenny Opera and Design for Living. His film credits include the soon to be released Ant Bully, Sweet Land, Spy Kids, X2, Nicholas Nickleby, Titus, Eyes Wide Shut, Emma, Circle of Friends and Disney's TV musical adaptation of Annie.
