Almeida Theatre's sell-out Mary Stuart extends booking due to demand

The Almeida Theatre have today announced a booking extension for their sell-out production of Mary Stuart which stars Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams play both Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart decided at each performance by the toss of a coin.

The production has extended for six performances where it is now running until Saturday 28 January. Tickets are now on sale for Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28, with a matinee on Saturday.

Mary Stuart originally opened at the north London venue on 9 December where it was met with excellent reviews and was given a 'critics pick' by London Theatre: "a magnificently gripping, intense production" (LondonTheatre.co.uk); "combines cerebral rigour with moments of both magical lightness and throbbing intensity" (Standard), "Robert Icke's explosive production" (Standard).

Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams will share the central roles, decided at each performance by the toss of a coin. They are joined by Alexander Cobb, Rudi Dharmalingam, Vincent Franklin, David Jonsson, John Light, Carmen Munroe, Eileen Nicholas, Daniel Rabin, Sule Rimi and Alan Williams.

Written by Friedrich Schiller and adapted by Robert Icke the production features lighting design by Jackie Shemesh, sound and original composition by Laura Marling and design by Hildegard Bechtler.
