An Inspector Calls Cast Update at Novello Theatre

Cast update for J. B. Priestley's An Inspector Calls, which opens at the Novello Theatre 25 Sep 2009, following previews from 22 Sep 2009, for a limited run to 14 Nov 2009.

The cast includes Nicholas Woodeson (Inspector Goole), Sandra Duncan (Sybil Birling), Marianne Oldham (Sheila Birling), David Roper (Arthur Birling), Diana Payne Myers (Edna), Timothy Watson (Gerald Croft), Robin Whiting (Eric Birling).

It is directed by Stephen Daldry, designed by Ian Macneil with lighting by Rick Fisher.

The story begins with the mysterious Inspector Goole arriving unexpectedly at the prosperous Birling family home. Their peaceful dinner party is shattered by his investigations into their involvement in the death of a young woman whom each of them in turn has exploited.

An Inspector Calls was written during the winter of 1944/5, and received its West End debut in 1946. Stephen Daldry's revival of An Inspector Calls first opened at the National Theatre in 1992. The show transferred to the West End where it enjoyed a two year season at the Aldwych Theatre, and then opened on Broadway. The production embarked on an extensive international tour across Australia and the USA and in 1995, launched its second West End season which ran for seven years (Garrick from Oct 1995 to April 2001 and then Playhouse to May 2002). By popular demand, the show has also enjoyed six major national tours, in 1992, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2003, 2005 and is now touring the UK again in 2009.

An Inspector Calls tickets are now on sale.
