Arts Theatre autumn season - 13 Sep to 1 Feb

The Arts Theatre has announced its Autumn Season running 13 Sep 2013 to 1 Feb 2014. Also, the musical The Golden Voice, starring Darren Day, which was due to run at the venue from 12 June to 31 Aug, but announced a delay to 17 July because of investment issues, has now been taken off sale, suggesting this has now been cancelled!

Storm In A Flower Vase by Anton Burge, 13 Sep to 12 Oct 2013. Starring Penny Downie (Constance Spry), Sally George, Sheila Ruskin, Carol Royle, Christopher Ravenscroft. Iconic floral designer and cookery writer Constance Spry remains a household name to this day. A pioneer for working women, Constance ran a successful business as the florist of choice for the highest of high society, designing floral displays for royal weddings and indeed for the Queen's coronation as well as creating the icon dish 'Coronation Chicken'. Mrs. Spry undoubtedly played a leading part in London society during the 1930s. But behind the image of this highly respected business woman lay a very different story: one of marital discord, affairs and heartache.

Only Our Own by Ann Henning Jocelyn, directed by Lars Gathe, from 8 Jan to 1 Feb 2014. Follows three generations of a dispossessed Anglo-Irish family: their struggle to survive - socially, culturally andd psychologically - into our days, while an emerging new class takes over as custodians of their heritage. Reflecting an imposed social system that turned everyone into a victim, the play also explores the dilemma of living with or without a traumatic past, and, ultimately, the need to develop and adjust to a world changing around you.
