Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical Bring It On will run at Southwark Playhouse in summer 2018 as part of the British Theatre Academy's new season.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, Bring It On is set around the world of competitive cheerleading in the US, and the intense rivalries that occur as a result. The musical opened on Broadway in 2012 at the St. James Theatre, and was due to tour the UK earlier this year, but the tour has been postponed until 2019. It will run at Southwark Playhouse from 2nd August to 1st September 2018, with an official opening night on 7th August.

The BTA will also produce Goodnight Mr Tom in The Little at Southwark Playhouse from 25th July to 25th August. Set around the Second World War, the play, based on novel by Michelle Magorian, follows a young boy who is evacuated to the countryside to star with an elderly man, Mister Tom.

Spring Awakening will also run as part of the season, at Stockwell Playhouse. With book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, the musical is set in 19th century Germany and tells the story of a group of teenagers. It will run from 16th to 18th August.

Running for almost 30 years, the British Theatre Academy offers opportunities for performers under the age of 27, and will be auditioning for people to take part in the productions from January in London and surrounding areas.

Bring It On and Goodnight Mr Tom will run at Southwark Playhouse in summer 2018.
