A Britney Spears-themed cabaret show is set to run in London this autumn following sell-out runs in Australia.

Britney Spears: The Cabaret will play at London's The Other Palace from 5th to 9th September, and will transform some of the popstar's biggest hits into cabaret songs, while telling the story of the singer's life.

Some of Spears' biggest hits include "Oops!... I Did It Again", "Toxic" and "Womanizer". The singer was born in Mississippi in 1981 and shot to stardom as a teenage popstar with "...Baby One More Time" in 1999. In 2007, she went on a hiatus following some widely publicised private issues, but recently enjoyed success with her latest album Glory, which reached number two in the UK charts.

Described as 'not so much a cabaret as a cry for help', the piece 'charts the rise and fall of the true Princess of Pop, and takes a satirical look at the perils of fame'.

Written and directed by Dean Bryant, the piece will star Christie Whelan Browne as Spears. Her stage work in Australia includes Company and The Producers, and the Sydney Morning Herald have described her performance in the cabaret show as "remarkable".

The show has previously run in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, and will make its London debut in the Theatre at The Other Palace.
