Camut Band's "Life is Rhythm" at the Lyric Theatre 6 to 22 Oct 03

Camut Band : Life is Rhythm, will play at the the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue for a limited 20 performances from 6 to 22 Oct 03.

Created by Rafael Mendez, Lluis Mendez, Toni Espanol, Guillem Alonso and Jordi Satorra, this Spanish group mixes African percussion, tap dance, voice and sand dance.

The show, which was a success at this year's Edinburgh Festival, will embark on a European Tour after its limited run at the Lyric Theatre.

In 1995 the CAMUT BAND group was born out of the union of Rafael and Lluis Mendez, choreographers and tap dancers, and Toni Espanol, leader of the African percussion and dance group Cae Ma Deila. Dancing on drums with different sounds, the Mendez brothers together with Toni Espanol's Djembe created an original rhythmic score 'Between Feet and Hands' .

In 1997 CAMUT BAND merged with the pianist and composer Jordi Sabates and created 'KEATONIANIA' (A dream of Buster Keaton).

In 1999 the percussion dancer Guillem Alonso and the percussionist Jordi Satorra, joined the group, with whom the show 'Life Is Rhythm' was created.
