The full cast has been announced for Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and Other Love Songs) at Lyric Hammersmith.

Based on John Gay's The Beggar's Opera, the play follows Macheath, an assassin in a dangerous criminal world, as he attempts to dodge bullets wherever he goes. Taking inspiration from the 18th century opera, there will also be musical accompaniment by a live band to bring the story into the present day, with hip-hop, folk, ska, grime and dubstep in a story of big business and corruption.

Dominic Marsh will play Macheath, with Georgia Frost as Filch and Rina Fatania as Mrs Peachum. The cast is completed by James Gow, Angela Hardie, Martin Hyder, Dave Johnzy, Giles King, Patrycja Kujawska, Lucy Rivers, Alex Lupo, Dominic Marsh, Beverly Rudd, Sarah Wright and Tim Dalling.

Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and Other Love Songs) will play at the Lyric Hammersmith for four weeks as part of a national tour, with the show also being performed in Southampton, Brighton, Oxford, Exeter, Cheltenham and Bristol.

The production is performed by the Kneehigh Theatre Company, in conjunction with Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse.

Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and Other Love Songs) is at Lyric Hammersmith from 21st May to 15th June.
