The Olivier Award-nominated West End production of School of Rock the Musical has announced that it is holding open auditions to find young performers to join the hit show at the New London Theatre.
Open auditions will take place on Saturday 25 March 2017 in Cardiff, Tuesday 23 and Thursday 25 May in London, Saturday 10 June in Sheffield, Saturday 15 July in Birmingham, Saturday 23 September in Liverpool and Monday 20 and Wednesday 22 November in London.
Children must be under five feet tall and aged 8-12 years old and reside full time in the UK. Applicants are invited to upload photos and videos of them performing. The casting team are looking for boys who play guitar, piano, and/or drums and girls who play bass guitar and/or cello.
The current child cast of School of Rock the Musical was this week nominated for an Olivier Award for their collective performance. The musical features music from the movie, as well as new music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Julian Fellowes.
School of Rock – The Musical follows slacker and wannabe rock star Dewey Finn turn a class of straight-A 10 year old students into an ear popping, riff scorching, all conquering rock band! Dewey poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school to make ends meet, and when he discovers his fifth graders’ musical talents, he enlists his class to form a rock group and conquer the Battle of the Bands. As Dewey falls for the beautiful headmistress, can he and his students keep this special assignment secret as they learn to fully embrace the power of rock?
