Darius Danesh extends his season in "Chicago" by 4 weeks until 11 Feb 2006

Amra-Faye Wright, who is currently playing 'Velma Kelly', will leave the Adelphi production on 7 January 2006 to join the Broadway production. Kay Murphy, who recently played 'Liz' in the West End production of "CHICAGO", will play the role of 'Velma Kelly' from 9 - 14 January. Vanessa Leagh-Hicks will then take over as 'Velma Kelly' from 16 January. Vanessa Leagh-Hicks has been performing in "CHICAGO" since it first opened in London and has been the first cover for 'Velma Kelly', as well as the West End Dance Supervisor.

The show continues to feature Sally Ann Triplett as 'Roxie Hart' and Victor McGuire as 'Amos Hart', with Chrissie Hammond as 'Mama Morton'.

Chicago, which opened at the Adelphi Theatre 18 Nov 1997, following previews from 27 Oct 1997, is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

Chicago, which is currently booking to 22 April 2006, become the longest running production ever to play at the Adelphi Theatre on 17 Oct 2005, replacing "Me and My Girl", the previous record-holder with a run of 3,303 performances.

The musical concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
