Darius to join cast of Chicago at Garrick Theatre

Darius Campbell will return to the role of Billy Flynn in Chicago The musical, which will reopen on 7 November 2011 booking to 26 January 2013 at the Garrick Theatre.

Darius was last seen in Chicago in London in 2006. Since then, he has starred in West End musicals Guys and Dolls, as Sky Masterson, and Gone with the Wind, as Rhett Butler. On television, he appeared in BBC 1's Hotel Babylon and last year won ITV1's Popstar to Operastar, after which he made his opera debut in Carmen with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The cast also includes America Ferrera (Roxie Hart), Amra-Faye Wright (Velma Kelly), James Doherty ( Amos Hart), Jasna Ivir (Mama Morton), R. Whitehead ( Mary Sunshine)..

Chicago The musical opened at Adelphi Theatre 18 Nov 1997 to 22 April 2006; re-opened at the Cambridge Theatre 28 April 2006 to 27 Aug 2011; and is now re-opening at Garrick Theatre on 7 Nov 2011.

Chicago is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. This production has choreography by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and is directed by Walter Bobbie.

This musical exploration of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery -- all those things that we hold dear to our hearts. Chicago follows not your usual housewife, Roxie Hart, who gains dubious notoriety when she kills her boyfriend, invents her defense and manipulates everyone from her trustworthy husband to the fickle media and the unsuspecting public. Featuring well known songs, 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Mr. Cellophane'.
