"Dirty Blonde" to close 28 Aug 2004

Dirty Blonde, by Claudia Sheer, a comedy about Mae West lovers who fall in love, will close one week early on 28 Aug 2004. (In fact, the show was originally only booking to 28 Aug in the first place, but announced a week extension in June to 4 Sep 2004!!).

The play opened at the Duke of York's 14 June 2004, following previews from 7 June , and will now close 28 Aug 2004.

Dirty Blonde first appeared at Off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop before it transferred to Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre on May 1, 2000. The production picked up five Tony nomination and went on a national tour of the US. The show made its UK debut at the West Yorkshire Playhouse back in August 2002.

The original Broadway cast and backstage team have reunited for this production.

Directed by James Lapine, starring Claudia Shear (Jo and Mae West), Kevin Chamberlin (Charlie) & Bob Stillman.

Follows two single New Yorkers who coincidentally meet at the grave site of the legendary film star and sex symbol Mae West.
