"Elaine Stritch at Liberty" at Old Vic from 1st Oct 02

It is now confirmed that Elaine Stritch's one-woman show Elaine Stritch at Liberty , will open at the Old Vic theatre on 9th Oct 02, following previews from 1st Oct 02 for a limited 40 performances to 23rd Nov 02. (Perfs Tues to Sat at 8.00pm)

It is directed by George C Wolfe and produced by Old Vic Productions & Savoy Hotel.

The show, which was presented in New York, won the Tony Award for 'Special Theatrical Event'. The show features a full orchestra under the musical direction of Broadway musical director Rob Bowman. Performing musical theatre classics including Sondheim's 'The Ladies Who Lunch' and 'I'm Still Here', the 76-year old tells stories from her anecdote-filled career.

Elaine Stritch has starred on Broadway in many shows including 'A Delicate Balance', 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' 'Company' and 'Showboat'. She starred in both the Broadway and West End productions of Noel Coward's production of 'Sail Away' and her other West End credits include 'The Gingerbread Lady', 'Small Craft Warnings' and 'Love Letters'. She co-starred in the 1977 Alain Renais film 'Providence' and opposite Donald Sinden in the BBC TV series 'Two's Company'.

This show will mark Elaine Stritch's return to the West End for the first time since 'Love Letters' in 1990.
