The cut to the chase... company presents the European Premiere of the Off-Broadway musical Gunmetal Blues, by Scott Wentworth with music and lyrics by Craig Bohmler and Marion Adler, at the Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch, east London, beginning previews on 29 Aug 2014, officially opening on 01 Sep and continuing its limited engagement through to 20 Sep 2014.

The cast of actor-musicians for Gunmetal Blues includes cut to the chase... company members Simon Jessop, Greg Last, Sean Needham, Sarah Scowen and Steve Simmonds.

Synopsis: 'Paying homage to film and neo-noir with echoes of Sin City and Casablanca, Gunmetal Blues is a hard-boiled detective yarn disguised as a lounge act... or maybe it's the other way around... The show comes live from the Red Eye Lounge, where piano Player Buddy Toupee leads us on a voyage of murder, mystery and music. In a world of smoke and mirrors, shadows and shattered dreams, Sam Galahad is on a desperate search for a missing blonde as he struggles to solve who killed the corrupt city tycoon Adrian Wasp. Was it Carol Indigo, the party girl with the big secret? Or Laura Vesper, the woman with a past? Perhaps it was the enigmatic bag lady called the Princess? Will Sam break the case before the crooked cops and the bad guys break him? Will he find the love he thought he'd lost?'

This production of Gunmetal Blues is directed by Bob Carlton, with musical direction by Greg Last, scenic design by Norman Coates, lighting by Alison Gainford and sound design by Rick Clarke. It is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd.
