"FEAST OF SNAILS" BY OLAF OLAFSSON AT LYRIC 8th FEB 02 WITH DAVID WARNER

A new play by Olaf Olafsson The Feast Of Snails , will open at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Ave on 18th Feb 02, following previews from 8th Feb 02, and booking to 4th May 02, starring David Warner, Philip Glenister, Sorcha Cusack and Siwan Morris. (Booking is now open!)

David Warner is returning to the West End after an absence of 30 years. He last appearance was in 1972 in the title role in "I, Claudius", which followed several seasons at the RSC, where his work included playing title roles in "Henry VI", "Richard II" and "Hamlet". His only stage appearance since then was last year making his New York stage debut in "Major Barbara". His many films include "Morgan, A Suitable Case for Treatment", "Tom Jones", "The Bofors Gun", "Straw Dogs", "The Omen", "Time Bandits", "The French Lieutenants Woman", "The Company of Wolves", "Star Trek V & VI", "Titantic", and "Planet of the Apes". His TV credits include "The War of The Roses", "Holocaust", "Masada", "Twin Peaks", "The Choir" and "Hornblower".

Peter Glenister's TV credits include "Clocking Off", "Roger Roger", "My Wonderful Life", "Sharpe's Witness" and "Soldier, Soldier".

Sorcha Cusack's theatre work include many seasons with at the Royal Exchange, the Abbey Theatre and the West Yorkshire Playhouse. She recently starred in "Playboy of the Western World" at the Royal National Theatre. Her TV credits include 'Jane' in "Jane Eyre", 'Molly Broom' in "Ulysses", "Angel" and "Husband to Mrs FitzHerbert".

The author Olaf Olafsson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, and lives lives in New York City. He is the author of the novels "The Journey Home" and "Absolution".

The play is directed by Ron Daniels, designed by Ashley Martin-Davis, with lighting by Peter Mumford.

The drama concerns a highly successful business tycoon, who is preparing for a solitary gourmet feast in the sumptuous surroundings of his home, when his plans are disrupted by the arrival of a young stranger. What follows is a battle of wits between reluctant host and unexpected guest during which dark secrets of the past are revealed.
