"HMS PINAFORE" AT SAVOY 13 DEC : CASTING ANOUNCED!

Casting has been announced for the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company's production of HMS Pinafore, which returns to the Savoy Theatre , opening on 18th Dec 02, following previews from 13th Dec 02 and booking to 1st March 03.

Cast includes Sam Kelly (Sir Joseph Porter), Tom McVeigh (Captain Corcoran), Joseph Shovelton (Ralph Rackstraw), Gareth Jones (Dick Deadeye), Della Jones (Buttercup), Sohie Louise Dann (Hebe), Alison Rae Jones (Share role of Josephine), Samantha Hay (Share role of Josephine).

It is directed by Martin Duncan, choreographed by Lindsay Dolan, designed by Tim Hatley, with lighting by Chris Ellis.

The show was last at the Savoy in 2000.

With music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W.S. Gilbert, this operetta is a jocular look at class relations presented through the story of a humble sailor, Ralph, who has found that the First Lord of the Admiralty is his rival for the captain's daughter's hand in marriage..

Songs from the show include "When I was a Lad", "I'm Called Little Buttercup", "I am the Captain of the Pinafore" and "He is an Englishman".
