The London premiere of one of Tennessee Williams' lesser-known plays Confessional will feature Holby City star Rob Ostlere, running at the Southwark Playhouse Little Space from 5 October to 29 October, with an official opening on 7 October 2016.

Jack Silver's semi-immersive production re-imagines Williams' text, which is the first of his plays to feature an openly gay character, setting it in a run-down British seaside bar on the Essex coast frequented by life's flotsam and jetsam and previously ran at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.

"The action focuses around Leona Dawson, a caravan park beautician who discovers her layabout boyfriend has been cheating on her with her mentally ill best friend. To add insult to injury, it's also the anniversary of her younger brother's death. With alcohol-fuelled emotions already running high, tensions increases when a pair of gay men come into the bar, one of whom reminds Leona of her dead brother, who was also gay. As Leona gets drunker she alternates between ranting at the regulars, bragging about her self sufficiency and her itinerant life in a caravan, and listening to the two strangers tell stories about the experience of being homosexual -something she knows will irritate her homophobic friends".

The production will feature Lizzie Stanton who reprises her role as Leona, alongside Rob Ostlere who is best known for playing Arthur Digby in 'Holby City'. They are joined by Gavin Brocker, Raymond Bethley, Simone Somers-Yeates, AF McLoughlin, Jack Archer and Alex Kiffin.

Produced by Remy Blumenfeld, it features designs by Justin Williams.

Tickets for Confessional are now on sale.
