A new immersive production inspired by the Disney masterpiece Fantasia is set to run at The Vaults in celebration of Mickey Mouse's 90th anniversary.

The 1940 film was produced by Walt Disney and featured pieces of classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski. It is a collection of eight short scenes set to music by the likes of Stravinsky, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Bach.

Titled Sounds and Sorcery celebrating Disney Fantasia, the experience will be directed by Daisy Evans, the founder of Silent Opera. It will see the audience, wearing individual headphones, move around the spaces at the Waterloo venue into different scenes which will use a combination of binaural sound, 3D projections, set and lighting design to reimagine the worlds of Fantasia.

It will run at The Vaults from 3rd July to 30th September.

Stephen Higgins has directed the 96-piece Philharmonic Orchestra of The City of Prague to create a new recording for the soundtrack, which will include the eight pieces of music from the original film:

"Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach
"Nutcracker Suite" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" by Paul Dukas
"The Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky
"The Pastoral Symphony" by Ludwig van Beethoven
"Dance of the Hours" by Amilcare Ponchielli
"Night on Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky
"Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert

Designs for the production will be created by Kitty Callister, with sound design from David Gregory, video designs by Doug Foster and lighting by Jake Wiltshire.

Sounds and Sorcery celebrating Disney Fantasia is at The Vaults from 3rd July to 30th September.
