UPDATE: Having starred in All Star Musicals, Dr Ranj will now headline his own West End concert. The television star and doctor will be at the Garrick Theatre on 15 June, joined by Gethin Jones.

After musical theatre took over ITV in 2019 with All Star Musicals, the hit series returns for a one-off special on 21 March. Six celebrities will take to the stage to perform a musical number, judged by West End actors who've all appeared in recent musicals.

The sextet of celebrities, selected for their performance skills, will be mentored regularly and be trained by choreographers and vocal coaches. Then, they'll aim to impress a virtual audience to be crowned the All Star Musicals champion. They'll also sing for a panel, including Elaine Paige, Hamilton's Trevor Dion Nicholas and Frozen's Samantha Barks.

John Barrowman will host the event, who said: "Now more than ever we're all in need of some fabulous musical entertainment and I can't wait to be reunited with Elaine on stage for All Star Musicals. We've got the most amazing show lined up with something for everyone and lots and lots of surprises!"

Heading the panel, Elaine Paige said "All Star Musicals is a joy to be a part of, I'm so pleased to be back heading up the critics panel and mentoring our new celebrities. We've got the most wonderful evening of musical theatre and entertainment lined up for viewers and some very exciting surprises."

Casting for the 2021 All Star Musicals includes Jessica Hynes, who recently starred in Far Away at the Donmar Warehouse. Robert Rinder, Robert Peston, Dr Ranj Singh, Luisa Bradshaw-White, and Barney Walsh complete the line-up.

Although a venue for the 2021 special is to be confirmed, the last series was filmed at the London Palladium

All Star Musicals is on ITV1 on 21 March at 6:30pm.
