Johnny Got His Gun - World War 1 drama at Southwark

Metal Rabbit in association with Southwark Playhouse present the UK stage premiere of Johnny Got His Gun, adapted by Bradley Rand Smith, based on the novel by Dalton Trumbo, at Southwark Playhouse's 'The Little Space', in south London, from 21 May to 14 June 2014.

The play, directed by David Mercatali, comes to London one hundred years after the start of the Great War and seventy five years after the publication of Trumbo's book. Cast includes Jack Holden (Joe Bonham).

When the call came, idealistic Joe Bonham eagerly volunteered for the trenches of World War One. Now he has paid a price he never expected, and far away from his American homeland he struggles to come to terms with what his world has become. As his grip on reality becomes ever more tenuous he reflects on the true nature of war and the choices he made.
