The Northern Broadsides and West Yorkshire Playhouse production of Othello, starring Lenny Henry in the title role will transfer to the Trafalgar Studios 1, opening 18 Sep 2009, following previews from 11 Sep - booking to 12 Dec 2009.

Comic and TV presenter Lenny Henry received good notices from the popular press when he made his stage acting debut in the play when it opened at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in February this year.

The cast also includes David Beckford, Matt Connor, Andy Cryer, Victoria Gee, Jessica Harris, Geoff Leesley, Chris Pearse, Simon Holland Roberts, Sara Poyzer, Richard Standing.

It is directed by Barrie Rutter, designed by Ruari Murchison, lighting by Guy Hoare, costumes by Stephen Snell. Produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions.

Othello is noble, brave and victorious. Iago, passed over for a position in the army, fuels his diabolical revenge with hatred and snarling racism.
