Mamma Mia! cast changes from 11 June 2012
There are cast changes in Mamma Mia! from 11 June 2012. Gary Milner takes over the role of 'Sam Carmichael', joining real-life wife Sally Ann Triplett, who continues to play 'Donna Sheridan'.
Other new cast from 11 June includes: Neil Roberts (Harry Bright), James Gaddas (Bill Austin), Charlotte Wakefield (Sophie Sheridan), Andreas Gyllander (Sky), Abiola Ogunbiyi (Ali), Tasha Taylor Johnson (Lisa), Steven Oliver (Pepper), Liam Doyle (Eddie). ( At certain performances, the role of 'Donna Sheridan' will be played by Claire Poyzer.)
Joanna Monro and Kim Ismay will continue as Rosie and Tanya respectively.
Based on the songs of ABBA, Mamma Mia! opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre on 6th April 1999, following previews from 23rd March 1999. It transferred to the Prince of Wales theatre on 3 June 2004, where it plays to 1 Sep 2012, when the show transfers to the Novello Theatre from 6 Sep 2012 - booking to 13 April 2013.
To date, Mamma Mia! has been seen by more than 50 million people in 37 productions in 14 different languages grossing more than $2 billion at the box office.
A film adaptation of the stage show was released in 2008 titled "Mamma Mia! The Movie".
A story of a mother and daughter set on the eve of the daughter's wedding, the musical has music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and book by Catherine Johnson.
It is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.
It is choreographed by Anthony Van Laast and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
