Maria Lawson joins cast of Thriller Live - show to extend to 3 Jan 2010
Thriller Live, featuring the songs of Michael Jackson & The Jackson 5, to extend 3 months to 3 Jan 2010 at the Lyric Theatre. (New booking period goes on sale 4 May).
The cast now includes X Factor 2005 finalist Maria Lawson . (Denise Pearson has now left the show). Maria Lawson signed to Sony BMG in 2006 which took her to LA to record her debut album with a song written especially for her by Diane Warren. Her self titled album was released later that year and charted in the top 40 and led to a Top 20 single. Maria was also snapped up as the model for lingerie company Bravissimo. Maria's second album, 'Emotional Rollercoaster' , due out later this year, has been produced by Brian Rawling, who has worked with one of her idols, Tina Turner. Maria has also written a book about her experiences, 'Life Starts Now'.
The show opened at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Ave, on 21 Jan 2009, following previews from 2 Jan 2009, to generally good notices from the popular press: THE GUARDIAN says, "It's cute, kicking and retro." The show, originally conceived and created by Adrian Grant, is directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd, with additional choreography by LaVelle Smith Jnr and and Kerys Nathan.
