Matilda the Musical is the latest London musical to confirm its reopening dates. Matilda the Musical will resume performances at the Cambridge Theatre from 16 September, with Matilda the Musical tickets on sale now.

The extended booking period of Matilda will also see the musical celebrate its 10th anniversary in the West End. Matilda premiered at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010, transferring to London's Cambridge Theatre the following year.

Based on the Roald Dahl novel of the same name, Matilda sees the titular child alone in the world, trying to quench her thirst for knowledge. Idolising her teacher, Miss Honey, they decide that enough is enough, eventually saving the day with the help of Matilda's classmates.

Casting for Matilda from September 2021 is to be announced.

Matilda is written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. The seven-time Olivier Award-winning musical won categories including best new musical, best director (for Matthew Warchus) and best choreographer (for Peter Darling).

A film adaptation of Matilda is currently in filming, with Emma Thompson as Miss Trunchbull and Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey. A release date is to be announced, but you can find out more about the new Matilda film here.
