Matthew Camelle returns to "Phantom of the Opera" on 2 Dec 02

Matthew Camelle will return to star as 'Raoul' in Phantom of the Opera, at Her Majesty's Theatre, on Monday 2 Dec 02. At the same time, Louise Walsh will join the cast to play 'Christine' at certain performances and Richard Hazell will join to play 'Monsieur Firmin'.

The show continues to feature John Owen-Jones (The Phantom) , Celia Graham (Christine'), Jeremy Secomb (Piangi), Nan Christie (Carlotta), Liz Robertson (Madame Giry), Robert Irons (Monsieur Andre) , Hayley Driscoll (Meg).

Apart from prevously playing the role of 'Raoul' in London and in the first UK tour of "Phantom of the Opera", Matthew Camelle also starred as 'Enjolras' in the musical concert production of "Les Miserables" which has just completed a stadium tour of Scandinavia. His other recent work includes "Follies" at the Royal Festival Hall and the national tour of "Martin Guerre".

Richard Hazell has been contracted to the Royal Opera Company since 1973. His TV work includes "Monty Python's Flying Circus", "The Two Ronnies" and "The Goodies".

Louise Walsh studied as a classical singer and has subsequently sung as soloist with many of the leading opera companies and orchestras.

This long running musical has been playing in London since 1986. Directed by Harold Prince, it has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Charles Hart .

This musical is based on Gaston Leroux's gothic novel of life beneath the stage of the Paris Opera House. The story concerns a mysterious masked man who falls in love with one of the singers called 'Christine'.
