UPDATE: It has been announced that & Juliet will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2019.

A musical based on songwriter Max Martin's back catalogue is in the works, and it could include some of the biggest pop songs of the last 20 years ranging from Britney Spears' "...One More Time" to Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off".

According to a casting call posted on Twitter, the as-yet-untitled musical will be workshopped in early 2019, with a premiere outside of London in July, before an anticipated move into the West End.

Martin's list of songwriting credits includes some of the greatest pop songs of the modern era, but also features songs by the likes of rock band Bon Jovi.

His hits include: "Oops... I Did It Again" by Britney Spears, Katy Perry's debut single "I Kissed a Girl", Backstreet Boys' hit "Everybody", Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and Jessie J, Arianna Grande and Nicki Minaj's collaboration "Bang Bang".

The casting call states that producers are looking for 'exceptional pop singers' aged between 20 and 30, hip-hop, commercial or street dancers who sing well, and speciality dance acts, such as break-dancers, who can also sing. Click here for more information.

It also reveals that the musical will have an original story by David West Read, whose plays include The Performers and The Dream of the Burning Boy, and directed by Luke Sheppard, whose London work includes In The Heights, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole and Working.

Jennifer Weber will choreograph the musical, with musical supervision by Bill Sherman.

Further details, such as dates, venues or tickets details for the musical, are yet to be announced.
