Pieter Dirk Uys: Elections And Erections at Duchess 1 to 5 June 2004

Pieter Dirk Uys: Elections And Erections, which is currently playing at the Soho Theatre on the Fringe, will transfer to the West End at the Duchess theatre for 5 days, 1 to 5 June 2004.

Winne Mandela, Nelson Mandela, Mrs Evita Bezuidenhout ('the most famous white woman in South Africa'), Desmond Tutu, Nowell Fine, Bambi Kellermann and President Thabo Mbeki. These are just some of the members of Pieter Dirk Uys's chorus line of characters in a comedy of celebration of his rainbow nation's 10 years of postapartheid existence...

'In this one man show, Uys plays tribute to an ANC government that has become his best scriptwriting source and focused on a future threatened by the biggest HIV/AIDS pandemic in the world. ELECTIONS AND ERECTIONS takes democracy and sex and filters through laughter, shock and awe.'

Pieter Dirk Uys is one of the most highly regarded performers in his native South Africa where he was awarded the prestigious Truth and Reconciliation Award in 2001.
