Stephanie Martin's new play Alkaline is set to open at the Park Theatre next month, which tells the story of two newly engaged friends, one of whom is converting to Islam.

Alkaline tells of Sophie and Sarah, life-long friends who are both celebrating their recent engagements to fiancés Nick and Ali, but Sophie reveals her marriage to Ali also comes with a change in faith.

The two couples get together one summer's night to discuss various aspects of impending their big days, like whether Sarah will take off her hijab for Sophie's wedding as it won't match the other bridesmaids' attire.

It will run at the Park Theatre from 10th July to 4th August with an official opening on 13th July.

Directed by Sarah Meadows, the world premiere of this play will star stars Claire Cartwright, Nitin Kundra, Reena Lalbihari, Alan Mahon and EJ Martin.

Martin's previous theatre credits include 2017's Joy at Theatre Royal Stratford East, and Juniper and Jules at Theatre503.

Alkaline is at the Park Theatre from 10th July to 4th August.
