Quartermaine's Terms at Wyndham's with Rowan Atkinson

Rowan Atkinson to star in Quartermaine's Terms by Simon Gray, which opens at the Wyndham's Theatre 29 Jan 2013, following previews from 23 Jan - booking to 13 Apr 2013.

It is directed by Richard Eyre and designed by Tim Hatley . Produced by Michael Codron and Theatre Royal Bath Productions.

Set in the 1960s in an English language school for foreigners, this tragicomic play is a 'humorous but ultimately moving account' of several years in the lives of seven teachers. At the heart of the group is St. John Quartermaine - kind, pleasant and agreeable, but utterly hopeless as a teacher. An almost permanent feature in the staff room, he's always available to listen to the problems of his self-obsessed colleagues. But when a new Principal is appointed, Quartermaine's future looks precarious...

Rowan Atkinson tv credits include four series of Blackadder; Mr Bean, The Thin Blue Line and Not the Nine O'clock News. Film credits include Johnny English and the Bean films: The Ultimate Disaster Movie and Mr Bean's Holiday. His stage credits include 'Fagin' in Oliver at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2009.

(Before its West End run the show will play the Theatre Royal Brighton (8 - 12 January) and the Theatre Royal Bath (14 - 19 January).
