The Rod Stewart musical Tonight's The Night, has been extended by 4 weeks to 30 Oct 2004 at the Victoria Palace Theatre. It is thought that the show will close on this date.

The show opened in November 2003 to mixed notices from the popular press: LYN GARDNER for THE GUARDIAN says, "A little gaudy, bawdy, over-amplified entertainment." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "Pretty dim stuff, not helped by less-than-lively dialogue....but we still get some ebullient tunes." NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "A book of flamboyant silliness that interferes with the pleasure of hearing Rod Stewart's biggist hits.." ADAM SCOTT for THE INDEPENDENT says, "The songs serve the plot. And what a lot of service it needs." SARAH HEMMING for THE FINANCIAL TIMES says, "Ben Elton's script is cheerfully daft...."

The musical, which has book by Ben Elton and music by Rod Stewart, currently features Tim Howar (Stuart Clutterbuck ), Dianne Pilkington (Mary), Hannah Waddingham (Satan), Michael McKell (Stoner ), Catherine Porter (Baby Jane Golden), Howard Samuels (Jorge), Keith Bookman (Greaser), Jeff Edwards (Bonehead), Debbie Kurup (Dee Dee).

Directed by Ben Elton, design & costumes by Lez Brotherston, with choreography by Stephen Mear and lighting by Mark Hendersen.

From the sexy mean streets of Detroit to the glamorous clubs and the Rockstar mansions of LA and Beverly Hills, Tonight's The Night tracks the story of Stu Clutterbuck a quiet, shy guy, so hung up and tongue tied that he can not even find the courage to declare his love to Mary, the sweet, wholesome girl of his dreams.

One night, alone and desperate, Stu reflects that if he could only be more like Rod then Mary would surely be his and for that, Stu would sell his very soul. In less time than it takes to say hot legs Mephistopheles, agent of Satan, turns up ready to make a deal. If Stu commits his soul to reside in Hell for all eternity, the Devil will give Stu the soul of Rod Stewart and then it will be Bye Bye Mr. Dull Guy and hello ladies!

Stu is about to learn the hard way that you can't find true love using another man's moves and that Devil or no Devil there's only one Rod Stewart.
