Secret Theatre at Lyric Hammersmith

The Lyric Hammersmith has announced Secret Theatre a theatre project that will take place over the next year 2013/2014, while the Lyric undergoes extensive building work as part of its £16.5million capital project - including the addition of the Reuben Foundation Wing (a two-storey extension enabling the theatre to further its work with young people and provide more facilities for the community) and the first major facelift for the existing building in 30 years.

Secret Theatre takes place at the heart of the building site. Press material says: "Over the coming year a company of actors, writers, dramaturgs, directors and designers will be working with the Lyric to create something special....The productions, a mixture of classics, new writing and adaptations, will open throughout the season and each new show will contribute to the growing repertory of plays, with audiences offered the chance once a month to see several of the productions in one day. In the spirit of secrecy no titles will be announced...or who is playing who." The first shows will be opening this September.

The company includes ten actors: Steven Webb, Nadia Albina, Hammed Animashaun, Leo Bill, Cara Horgan, Charlotte Josephine, Adelle Leonce, Katherine Pearce, Billy Seymour, Sergo Vares.

The company is completed by ten creatives: Lyric Artistic Director Sean Holmes, Gate Theatre Associate Director Ellen McDougall, also Caroline Bird, Joel Horwood, Arinze Kene, Hayley Squires, Hyemi Shin, Lizzie Powell, Nick Manning, Simon Stephens.
