Sucker Punch extends 1 week to 31 July at Royal Court

Sucker Punch, by Roy Williams, extends by 1 week and will now run to 31 July 2010, at the Royal Court Theatre Downstairs.

The Theatre Downstairs has been transformed into a boxing arena for this event, complete with ring side seating and an additional circle level.

Sucker Punch, which opened on 19 June 2010, following previews from 11 June, is directed by Sacha Wares, designed by Miriam Buether, lighting by Peter Mumford, sound by Gareth Fry.

Cast includes Daniel Kaluuya (Leon), Anthony Welsh (Troy), Nigel Lindsay (Charlie), Gary Beadle (Ray), Trevor Laird (Squid), Jason Maza (Tommy), Sarah Ridgeway (Becky).

In the red corner: Leon Davidson - Black British champ or Uncle Tom? In the blue corner: Troy Augustus - American powerhouse or naïve cash cow? Two former friends step into the ring and face up to who they are. Sucker Punch looks back on what it was like to be young and Black in the 80s and asks if the right battles have been fought, let alone won.
