Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer, will open at the Albery Theatre 14 May 2004, following previews from 6 May, and booking to 31 July 2004, starring Victoria Hamilton, Diana Rigg. (Prior to the West End opening the show will play in Richmond 19 to 24 Apr 04)

It is directed by Michael Grandage and produced by Sheffield Theatre, presented through special arrangement with The University of the South Sewanee Tennessee

Sebastian died suddenly last summer. His mother clings to him in death as she clung to him in life. In the sultry heat of New Orleans she plans her act of revenge on the girl she believes stole Sebastian from her.

Diana Rigg's West End credits in recent years include "Humble Boy" at the Cottesloe, NT in 2001; "Phedre" and "Britannicus" at the Albery in 1998, and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at the Aldwych in 1996; "Mother Courage and Her Children" at the Olivier, NT in 1995.

Victoria Hamilton's London stage credits include "The Master Builder" at the Haymarket in 1995; "Trolilus and Cressida" for the RSC at the Barbican in 1996; "King Lear", "The Provok'd Wife" and "The Seagull" for the Peter Hall Company at the Old Vic in 1997; "Money" and "Summerfolk" at the Olivier, NT in 1999; "The Day in the Death of Joe Egg" at the New Ambassadors & Comedy theatres in 2001; "Home and Beauty" at the Lyric in 2002; and most recently "Sweet Panic" at the Duke of York's in 2003
