'The Jonathan Larson Project' confirms casting for London run
The production marks 30 years since the Rent composer’s death in January 1996, and will feature previously unheard songs.
Casting has been revealed for the European premiere of The Jonathan Larson Project, which begins performances at Southwark Playhouse Borough on 9 July running through 22 August.
The company includes Max Harwood, Marcus Collins, Michael Mather, Grace Mouat, and Imelda Warren-Green.
The production marks 30 years since the Rent composer’s death in January 1996, and will feature previously unheard songs.
Directed by John Simpkins and conceived by Jennifer Ashley, the production heads to Southwark Playhouse Borough following an Off-Broadway run at the Orpheum Theatre.
The producers and the production’s casting director Rob Kelly have also launched an open application search for two cover roles, inviting performers with no professional musical stage credits to apply.
Larson’s sister Julie Larson said: “It means so much to us to bring this show to a UK audience and to continue honouring Jonathan’s extraordinary work and legacy.
“This new celebration of my brother’s previously unheard music offers an intimate portrait of an artist who was truly ahead of his time, and we are deeply honoured to share it with you.”
The creative team includes musical director Livi Van Warmelo, set and costume designer Justin Williams and lighting designer Samuel Biondolillo.
