The Park Theatre presents the world premiere of new comedy drama The Retreat

Kathy Burke directs the first play by BAFTA award-winning writer Sam Bain

Sam Bain (Peep Show, Fresh Meat) makes his debut as a playwright with The Retreat, a comedy drama making its world premiere at the Park Theatre's PARK200. The month long run will begin on Thursday 2nd November 2017.

Telling the story of Luke, a former high-flyer from the City, The Retreat is an exploration of the notion that we live in a world where we can never escape from ourselves, but never find ourselves either. Luke embarks on a mediation retreat, searching for the inner peace that has eluded him thus far. But any attempts to find that peace are squashed when his obnoxious older brother, Tony, arrives. Are people like Tony the thing that is wrong with Luke's life, or is this journey of self-discovery just another addiction that the world doesn't need?

The Retreat is directed by Kathy Burke, most famous for her work in Ab Fab, Harry Enfield and Chums and her British Comedy Award-winning performance in Gimme, Gimme, Gimme. Set and costume design is by Paul Wills, lighting design by Paul Keogan and sound design by John Leonard.
