Theatre Museum closure threat!

Theatre Museum closure threat!

18 leading figures from the theatre world including: Judi Dench, Peter Hall, Harriet Walter and Corin, Lynn, Jemma and Vanessa Redgrave have signed a letter to The Times Newspaper calling for the Victoria and Albert Museum’s trustees to reject a proposal that could see The Theatre Museum in Covent Garden close.

They write: “We are horrified that this important and world-renowned museum could be closed and its collection broken up. We fear this means that most of the exhibits would no longer be available to the public.”

A V&A spokesman said: “The V&A is aware of the concerns of the theatrical community regarding the future of the Theatre Museum and is exploring all options to ensure that its collection remains widely seen.”

The letter was also signed by Diana Rigg, Martin Jarvis, Patrick Malahide, Deborah Findlay, Peter Bowles, Donald Sinden, Kika Markham, Natasha Richardson, Joely Richardson, Miriam Margoyles and Alex Kingston.
