Dates and a venue have been confirmed for the long-awaited musical Tina, based on the life of legendary singer Tina Turner.

It will run at the Aldwych Theatre from 21st March with an official opening night on 17th April. It is initially booking until 16th June 2018, and tickets will go on sale from 10am on 22nd September.

Announcing the run, Turner said: "I am so excited to be bringing my musical to the West End! London is a place that means so much to me and had such a big impact on my music and my life.  Returning now to tell my full story, in the city I love, feels like an important chapter and is truly exciting."

Tina is written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, and will be directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who directed Mamma Mia.

The musical will track Turner's life story from her childhood in a small Tennessee town, to becoming a music powerhouse in the '60s and '70s. Her hits include "What's Love Got to Do With It", "Proud Mary" "The Best" and "Better Be Good To Me", although it has not been confirmed which songs will feature in the musical.

Produced by Stage Entertainment, Tina will have choreography by Anthony van Laast, set and costume designs by Mark Thompson, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Nevin Steinberg, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and musical supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck.

Casting for Tina is yet to be announced.

Tina the Musical Tickets go on sale Friday 22nd September at 10am.
