- The *Wicked* soundtrack is out of this world. No, really! To wake up astronauts on a mission, NASA once played astronauts the song "Defying Gravity".
- To make up Glinda’s bubble dress that she wears at the start of the show, 36 petals are featured, as well as 20 types of sequin. Nearly 100,000 sequins actually appear on the dress! In order to maintain the dress, it takes one person four hours, for four days a week to care for it.
- In the history of *Wicked* in London, there is only one person to have played both the roles of Elphaba and Glinda — Louise Dearman, in 2012.
- Wicked uses the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” notes for “Unlimited / I’m Limited” during the show.

Lucy St Louis is a West End actress, best known for playing Diana Ross in *[Motown the Musical](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/motown-the-musical)*. In 2021, she returned to the West End as Christine in *[The Phantom of the Opera](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/308-the-phantom-of-the-opera)*, becoming the first actress of colour to play the role in London.

Graduating from Laine Theatre Arts in 2012, she made her West End debut that same year, cast in the *Ragtime* ensemble at [Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/regents-park-open-air-theatre). She then joined the original cast of *[The Book of Mormon](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/the-book-of-mormon)* at the [Prince of Wales Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/prince-of-wales-theatre), joining as a swing. Louis then progressed with the company to understudy the role of Nabulungi.

In 2015, Louis was cast in the original company of *[Beautiful: The Carole King Musical](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/beautiful-the-carole-king-musical)* at the [Aldwych Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/aldwych-theatre), playing Shirelle/Little Eva. She then stayed in the musical for a year, until she was cast as Diana Ross in the West End premiere of *Motown the Musical*. Of her performance, [LondonTheatre.co.uk wrote](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/reviews/motown-the-musical-review-at-the-shaftesbury-theatre): “there are strong impersonations of Diana Ross… it is thrilling to see so much exceptional talent on one stage.” 

More recently, Louis has played Antonia in *Man of La Mancha* at the [London Coliseum](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/london-coliseum) alongside Kelsey Grammer, Danielle de Niese and Cassidy Janson.

Aside from theatre, Louis has even appeared in a Disney film. She is featured in the 2017 remake of *Beauty and the Beast* as a debutante.

In 2021, Louis made history as the first actress of colour to play Christine in *The Phantom of the Opera* at [Her Majesty’s Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/her-majestys-theatre). She’ll star alongside Killian Donnelly as The Phantom. Lucy St. Louis will play her final *The Phantom of the Opera* performance on 21 Jan. 2023. After *The Phantom of the Opera,* Lucy St. Louis will play Glinda in *Wicked,* alongside Alexia Khadime as Elphaba.

The Apollo Victoria Theatre first opened as the New Victoria Cinema in 1930, and housed films, variety acts, and big bands. Closing at the start of World War II, the theatre reopened in May 1941 and shows continued to entertain audiences until it closed in 1976. 

The theatre reopened in 1981 with a Shirley Bassey concert. Since then, musicals at the Apollo Victoria Theatre include *The Sound of Music* starring Petula Clark, and an 18-year run of *Starlight Express* boasting a redesigned auditorium to allow for race tracks to go through the audience. *Wicked* opened at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in September 2006.

The auditorium has two levels - Stalls and Dress Circle. This is a very wide auditorium. The overhang of the Dress Circle affects the view of the top of the stage from seats in Row Y and onwards.

The Dress Circle in this theatre is very deep, though the view is still excellent and the spectacle of the current production is still very much apparent from these seats.
