Babes In Arms at Ye Olde Rose and Crown

All Star Productions will present Babes In Arms, at Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub theatre in Walthamstow, east London, from 20 July to 7 August 2016, with an opening night on 22 July.

This production will mark the first UK staging in almost fifteen years of the original version the musical comedy. It will be directed by Brendan Matthew, with musical direction by Aaron Clingham and choreography by Carole Todd. The show has music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart, book by Rodgers & Hart and has been adapted by Jason Guare.

Synopsis: "A group of teenagers are left without adult supervision when their folks hit the vaudeville summer circuit, and the local sheriff is determined to send the loafers to a work farm. But the determined kids talk the sheriff into a two week reprieve, just enough time to produce their own show and prove their mettle. The son of a wealthy Southerner agrees to bankroll the production but only on the condition that the two black kids not appear in the show. The other kids are outraged, but of course the show must go on and does, in a succession of comeuppance, reconciliation and romance."

The show features some of Rodgers & Hart's most popular songs, including 'My Funny Valentine', 'The Lady is a Tramp', 'Where or When' and 'Johnny One Note'.
