BUDDY CLOSES IN MARCH 2002 AFTER 12 YEARS IN THE WEST END

The musical Buddy is to close at the Strand Theatre on 3rd March 02, after a run of over 12 years in the West End. (The show was originally booking to 19th May 02).

Written by Alan Janes, this musical originally opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 1989, and transferred to its present home at the Strand Theatre in 1995. It won Olivier Awards for Best New Musical and another for Best Actor in a Musical in 1991.

The show notched up 5,000 performances in the West End on Tuesday, 16th Oct 01.

The show is the story of Buddy Holly who died at the young age of 21.

Directed by Rob Bettinson, the role of Buddy is currently played by Gus MacGregor.
