The Chichester Festival Theatre production of Tony Kushner's Caroline, or Change is set to transfer to the West End's Playhouse Theatre after its current run at the Hampstead Theatre.

Kushner's musical stars Sharon D Clarke who plays Caroline Thibodeaux, a maid idolised by Noah, a young boy who is struggling with the death of his mother and remarriage of his father. The musical, which has songs by Jeanine Tesori, tells the story of two pair who spend time together in the basement where Caroline, who is poorly paid, works.

It runs at the Hampstead Theatre until 21st April, and will then open at the Playhouse Theatre in November.

Written by Kushner (Angels in America) and directed by Michael Longhurst (Amadeus), it stars Clarke whose previous theatre credits include Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, The Amen Corner and We Will Rock You

Tickets for Caroline, or Change in the West End go on sale at LondonTheatre.co.uk from Sunday 25th March.

News of the transfer comes in the weeks before James Graham's Quiz, also a transfer from Chichester, is set to open, and will follow the transfer of Ian McKellen's King Lear (also a Chichester production) opening at the Duke of York's.

Caroline, or Change will be at Playhouse Theatre in November.

Caroline, or Change Tickets are available from Sunday.
