Clint Dyer will take on the role of deputy artistic director at the National Theatre, it has been announced. In this new role, he will work with director and joint chief executive Rufus Norris on future productions at the National Theatre.

Dyer is the only Black British artist to have worked on National Theatre productions as an actor, writer and director. In 2020, Dyer was appointed a National Theatre associate. Speaking about his new executive role, Dyer said: "To be joining the National Theatre at such a crucial time for our sector is incredibly stimulating. I was lucky enough last year to experience first-hand the hard work and dedication from every single member of staff at the NT that went into achieving so much against all the odds...I know that the National is looking to emerge... with a renewed commitment to make world-class theatre that celebrates the breadth of our nation. I am thrilled and honoured to be part of the team that will be making that happen."

Throughout his career, Dyer has regularly been on both sides of the stage, starring in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at the National Theatre, as well as writing and directing the recent Death of England plays. He's also starred in The Kid stays in the picture at the Royal Court and Big White Fog at the Almeida Theatre.

At the moment, Dyer is currently directing the world premiere of Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical at the Lyric Theatre. Arinze Kene will play Bob Marley in the production, with Get Up, Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical tickets available for performances from May 2021.
