Estelle Parsons & Claire Skinner join cast of Deathtrap
Cast update for Ira Levin's Deathtrap, which opens at the Noel Coward Theatre 7 Sep 2010, following previews from 20 Aug - booking to 22 Jan 2011
Joining previously mentioned Simon Russell Beale (Sidney Bruhl) & Jonathan Groff (Clifford Anderson), are Estelle Parsons as 'Helga ten Dorp' - replacing Anna Massey who has withdrawn for personal reasons; Claire Skinner (Myra Bruhl), and Terry Beaver.
Estelle Parsons will make her West End stage debut. She has a long and distinguished theatre career, recently starring in “August: Osage County”, both on Broadway and throughout North America; her many films include “Rachel, Rachel”, “Watermelon Man” and “Dick Tracy”. On television she is probably best-known for her performance as ‘The Mother’ in “Rosanne”.
It is directed by Matthew Warchus, designed by Rob Howell, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker. Produced by David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers.
A celebrated author of Broadway thrillers is suffering from a severe case of writer's block. Waiting for inspiration, he receives a script from a former student and is instantly consumed with jealousy as he realises it is the perfect thriller. He thinks the unthinkable: to lure the would-be-playwright to his home, kill him and take ownership of the script. In a whirlpool of twists and turns, only one thing is certain: that death and deception are chillingly related!
