Extended booking period for Come From Away at the Phoenix Theatre
After celebrating its first birthday in the West End earlier this month, Come From Away will play an extended booking period at the Phoenix Theatre. The musical will now welcome more islanders to 'The Rock', with performances scheduled to October 2020.
Come From Away extends its West End run
Come From Away received its West End premiere at the Phoenix Theatre in February 2019, starring Rachel Tucker, Clive Carter and David Shannon. The musical will now run for an extended booking period in London, with performances to 17th October 2020.
Last year, Come From Away won four Olivier Awards including best musical, with Mark Shenton commenting that "it's a show with an impact that's difficult to describe: it feels like it creeps up on you unawares, before flooring you with emotion."
Come From Away islanders
A new cast of islanders also joined the production earlier this month, including Tarinn Callender, Alice Fearn, Kate Graham and Alasdair Harvey, as well as real-life siblings James Doherty and Mary Doherty starring alongside each other in Come From Away.
The Come From Away cast is completed by Jenna Boyd, Mark Dugdale, Jonathan Andrew Hume, Harry Morrison, Emma Salvo, Cat Simmons, Chiara Baronti, Alexander McMorran and Jennifer Tierney.
About Come From Away
Inspired by the true stories of 7,000 air passengers stranded in Canada after 9/11, as well as the tales of the Newfoundland communities that took them in, Come From Away is a compassionate, joyous musical that celebrates life.
The musical features a book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, who wrote the musical after visiting Gander to meet the residents and those who were stranded.
