An image has been released of the first audience inside the auditorium of London's newest theatre, the Bridge Theatre.

Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr opened the doors to their new venture on Saturday evening for the first preview performance of Young Marx, a new play written by Richard Bean and Clive Coleman, and starring Rory Kinnear and Oliver Chris.

The first audience at the theatre was made up of members of the theatre, who were treated to a performance of the play, as well as the chance to utilise the theatre's new café and bar.

Following Young Marx, Ben Whisaw will star in Hytner's production of Julius Caesar, and Barney Norris' Nightfall will get its world premiere. Click here to read full details of the first Bridge Theatre season.

The photograph of the first audience shows the theatre in an End On lay-out, but Julius Caesar will be performed with a promenade stage, and Nightfall performed with a thrust stage.

Young Marx begins public previews on Wednesday 18th October, with an official opening night on 26th October.
