French musical Notre Dame de Paris to play London Coliseum in 2019
Performed in French with English surtitles, the musical tells the story of Quasimodo, a bell-ringer at a cathedral who falls in love with a beautiful dancer called Esmerelda. The production has musical by Richard Cocciante, and lyrics by Luc Plamondon.
The original French production is directed by Gilles Maheu, with choreography by Martino Muller. It will be performed with a cast of dancers and acrobats, as well as a live orchestra.
The musical premiered in Paris in September 1998, and features the third-biggest-selling single in French history: “Belle”. The musical received a full-production at the Dominion Theatre in 2000, which LondonTheatre.co.uk described at the time as having a ‘superb’ score.
