It has been announced that cast members from the original production of Sweat at the Donmar Warehouse production will star in the show's West End transfer at the Gielgud Theatre.

Clare Perkins will reprise her role as Cynthia, currently starring in Emilia at the Vaudeville Theatre. The actress' previous credits include Genesis Inc at the Hampstead Theatre, and Roundelay at Southwark Playhouse.

Actors also returning from the original Donmar run to the Gielgud Theatre include Sule Rimi as Evan, soon to appear in All My Sons at the Old Vic, Leanne Best as Jessie, Wil Johnson as Brucie, Stuart McQuarrie as Stan and Sebastian Viveros as Oscar.

They join the previously confirmed Martha Plimpton, who will reprise her performance as Tracey from the Donmar Warehouse production.

Written by Lynn Nottage, Sweat is a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama based on spending time in Reading, Pennsylvania, a small town heavily affected by recent economic crises and was named one of the poorest cities in the United States. Issues including de-industrialisation and what it means to be an American are explored in this highly charged play, where the friendships of factory workers are tested.

Sweat is nominated for best new play at this year's Olivier Awards on 7th April, ahead of its limited West End run at the Gielgud Theatre, where it will play for 50 performances.

In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mark Shenton praised Nottage's play, writing that Sweat is a 'piercing portrait of a community placed under intolerable strain, as their loyalties and self-interests are challenged. Alternately desolate and gripping, it is acted with a piercing, documentary-like truthfulness.'

Sweat is at the Gielgud Theatre from 7th June to 20th July.
